Services

Aside from lodging and dining, the club provides additional services tailored to meet your needs and ensure your stay is pleasant and trouble free.  These services are available on a user fee basis.   Check the member rates page in the menu for the current rates.

Dining   –   The dining facility is open to all members and guests and is located at the main Club House.  We provide a fixed menu breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, and are willing to accommodate any of your dining requirements given proper notice and resources.

Our kitchen team, prepares fine fare and the dining seats are limited; as a result we request reservations in advance in order for us to provision and staff accordingly. In general two weeks advance notice is required for dinner reservations. Members using club cabins on the full meal plan do not need to reserve, however in the event that members using McVeigh or Morgan intend to do their own cooking this must be specified at the time of the reservation and confirmed with the Guardian on arrival. Members and their guests are requested to show up promptly at meal times as all meals are served on schedule and will not be delayed for late arrivals. A cancellation policy applies and members will be charged for meals reserved if they fail to show.

Food Allergies and Dietary Needs are taken seriously and can be accommodated within reason.  Please contact the club the Wednesday before your date of arrival to specify any allergies or dietary needs.

The dress code for dinner is clean casual (collared shirt, shoes required).

Alcohol is allowed and the policy is BYOB.  Staff are not allowed to pour alcohol for members and guests.

Smoking is not permitted in the Clubhouse or veranda.

Phone and e-mail   –   The club has a StarLink internet service. Please remember this is part of the business system of the club and is available for sparing use by members and guests. Do not watch video or sports on the club system which tie up the system and result in data usage charges.

Ice   –   Everybody needs ice.   The club acquired an ice making machine compliments of Pioneer Construction (Jamie Wallace).  A larger freezer full of bags of ice is located at the back entrance of the clubhouse and also in the freezer shed attached to the lakeside fish cleaning shed.   Do help yourself.  Please remember that the ice machine output is limited during the hot summer months so use the ice sparingly so everyone has a cold drink.

Baked Goods   –   Fresh fruit, pies, hand made cookies, and fragrant loaves of bread are available for the asking.   The Kitchen staff bake almost daily and the popularity of some items has made pre-ordering a necessity.   Just find someone in the kitchen and they’ll be glad to share their baking plans.  The cost depends on the items purchased, but rest assured, it will be worth every cent.

Shore Lunch Kit   –   Fresh bread, batter, butter, onions, potatos, lemon wedges, baked beans, coffee, tea, fire starter, pots, pans, plates, utensils are all neatly arranged in an over sized weatherproof bin.  Everything you need to prepare your own do-it-yourself shore lunch with your family and guests.  We even supply a fresh baked dessert.  All you need to do is catch the fish!   When you are finished your meal, return all the kit back to the club and we’ll clean it up.  Please note that this is a popular option and should be arranged at least a day in advance.  Be sure to tell us the number of people in your party.

Laundry and Housekeeping  –   Are an essential part of having a great experience at Caughnawana.  Should you require these services it’s as simple as asking for them.  Do remember that we have only one washing machine for the entire camp, so laundry turn-around is based on our workload and resources.

Guide Service   –   Even long standing members take advantage of our guides local wilderness knowledge.  Like many things our resources are limited by booking a guide will assure you of a bountiful day.  See our rates section for costs.

Garbage  –  We offer disposal of refuse, organics and recyclables for our members and guests.  We pick these up at your dock or, for drive to camps, at your door, on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons. If Monday is a holdiay we pick up Monday and Thursday.   This service is included in your membership fee. The practice of recycling is taken very seriously at Caughnawana and by our partners at the ZEC.   Do your part by separating the organics, recyclables, paper and refuse.

Tuck Shop   –   We inventory a wide range of items for sale such as fleece vests, sweatshirts, sport hats, hand-tied local flies, maps.  These are popular items and a many make a great keepsake.  To add to the authenticity many items are only available at Caughnawana.  Members be reminded that Mother’s Day and Father’s Day coincide with Spring fishing season.  Our Tuck Shop is a fine depot for that perfect Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gift.

Contracting  –  Our club guardian and his team are available to undertake contracting work around the lake at the private camps.  Their expertise on general construction, plumbing, dock building, electrical, and brush clearing is second to none. During busy periods or for major renovations it is recommended that the camp owners contract companies from Temiscaming or North Bay. Our Guardian will supervise and help to co-ordinate the work of outside contractors for a fee. Camp owners should normally make arrangements to pay outside contractors directly. If the club is involved in purchasing and transporting materials for camp owners payment to the club in advance is normally required.
