Safety

Safety is an important subject for all of us.  The Caughnawana Fishing and Hunting Club endeavours to maintain the strictest adherence to safety awareness and practices.  We have implemented many practices ranging from fire safety procedures to handling medical emergencies and encourage you to be well versed in the procedures.  After all, you are ‘in the bush’ (remote isolated location) and your life will depend on it.

Health & Medical:

If you or any of your guests have specific health issues, you should come prepared with proper medical supplies and let your party know of them.  If you are allergic and require carrying an Epipen, please let someone know where it is, in advance.

Medical Evacuation “Medivac” Protocol:You should also have air medivac contingency plans in place in advance of your visit, for dispatching & transporting you and/or your party out to the closest medical facilities–in either Quebec or Ontario–depending on the residency of the person, for whom medical attention is required.  Past experiences have revealed that Quebec public medivac services will not transport an Ontario citizen back across the Quebec-Ontario border to an Ontario health care facility, nor will Ontario’s ORNGE ‘retrieve’ an Ontario resident from inside Quebec.  Private contractor service suppliers may be required.  The same applies for evacuation by ground Ambulance. Round trip by road dispatch is roughly 2.5-3 hours, depending on availibility, proximity, weather and road conditions.

It also may be prudent to share any specific medical information with the Guardians if you are staying alone at the Club at a private camp, or in accomodations on the Club property.  Please ask the Guardians or the Board Director in charge of the Safety Portfolio, if you have any questions.
