The Lodgings

The club maintains four lodging facilities:

The Beaver Lodge  –  This is the largest and most complete of our guest facilities at Caughnawana. Dedicated in memory of Russ Bannock the original test pilot of the iconic Beaver aircraft and a major contributor to the club.  It is a new cabin built to replace the McVeigh cabin in 2021. The cabin is complete with four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, kitchen, wood stove, a combined living/dining room area for entertaining, and a covered porch to listen to the loons and share those fishing stories.  The camp can handle up to 12 guests.

The Morgan Camp – Graciously donated to the Club in 2010 by Elsie Morgan in memory of her husband and long time member, Don Morgan, this historic camp is completely self contained with 3 bedrooms, two full bathrooms and kitchen, wood heater and fireplace. It comes with a screened-in veranda to watch sunsets, its own dock and boathouse. This camp will handle 8 guests comfortably.

The Grouse Camp  –  This camp is one of the two smaller sleeping cabins  adjacent to the McVeigh.  It has two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and living room.  This cabin has capacity to sleep five people.

The Speckle Trout Camp  –  This is the most intimate of our guest cabins.  It is located nearest to the clubhouse and has two bedrooms, a full bathroom, living room, and wood stove.  It can accommodate four people.

Lighting in the lodgings is mostly by electric solar power.   Flashlights are also on each bedtable.   Electric lights are available, in all but the Morgan Camp, and are powered 24/7 by our solar electric system (please be kind to our batteries and use this system as conservatively as possible).

Heating is by wood stove and the club fills the wood boxes regularly.

NOTE: Never leave wood fires unattended.

The bathrooms have a generous stack of hand and bath towels.  Handsoaps are at each sink and shampoos and shower gels hang in each shower stall.

Daily housekeeping services are provided on an ‘as requested/needed’ basis.

The Services

All cabin rentals include fresh linens upon arrival, and daily house cleaning.  There are two plans in which you can use these facilities.  They are:

1)  The American Plan  – which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

2)  The European Plan  – This plan is only available with the McVeigh and Morgan camps.  We provide a fresh cabin that has its own kitchen and barbecue area.  You provide your own provisions and cook for yourself.  Note that if you have a very large group the two smaller cabins can be rented in conjunction with the McVeigh and Morgan camps.

The costs for each camp and the respective plans can found by clicking on the page: Member Rates

To check availability of rental accommodation contact Mike at himikebourne@gmail.com from January 15th until season opening .

We recommend making arrangements well in advance, for the camps are well liked and the popular weekends get booked early.  It’s easy to do.  During the season contact our club guardian, Fred at 613-585-3733 or caughclub@gmail.com.

CANCELLATION POLICY

As everyone can appreciate significant effort goes in to ensuring a good experience for our members. The resources to be organized and paid for include staff, food and equipment. A late cancellation results not only in a waste of these resources, but also a lost opportunity for other members that could have utilized the reserved time. The  policy is as follows:

Peak Season

  1. From April 1 until one month prior to the reservation date 50% of the cost for the reservation shall apply in the event of total cancellation. There shall be no charge for changes to the number of guests in the party within reason.

From one month before the reservation date 100% of the cost shall apply in the event of total cancellation. A charge of 50% of the per person fee shall apply for a reduction in the number of guests.

    Summer and Hunting Season

A charge of 50 % of the total cost of the reservation shall apply in the event of total cancellation within one month of the reservation date. A charge for a reduction in the number of guests or if a change of date for the reservation is requested shall be negotiated on a case by case basis.

The objective of the Policy is to be fair to all the members. Clearly specific circumstances will need to be considered in each case. If you have a concern please discuss it with your Board member responsible for Housekeeping.
